Use Indigenous Engineers, Analyst Urges FG
The Federal Government has been urged to strengthen the use of indigenous engineers in its bid to develop the country.
A Public Affairs analyst, Comrade Pedro Akpaka, said this in an interview with newsmen Monday in Port Harcourt.
He said that Nigeria’s dependence on foreign experts to develop her nation was against the international best practice.
Akpaka maintained the country must be prepared to utilize her citizens who are professionals in various fields to give the nation a face lift.
He pointed out that Nigeria has all it takes to change the nation for better through instrument of science and technology.
He explained that most developed countries of the world engaged their experts, especially engineers in building their nation.
The analyst, who also is an environmental expert, noted that the country had enough manpower to execute all kinds of projects without foreign interference.
He hinted that most people in the country who parade as engineers, are road-side mechanics in their countries who cannot handle huge projects on their own.
He noted that most nations across the globe make use of the indigenous experts.
He also tasked state governors on the need to engage our engineers in their various state in all engineering works and construction jobs.
Meanwhile, he has urged the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) leaders to ensure that they contact the presidency on the use of professional body to handle all engineering projects and site supervisions in the country.
