Mrs Wike To Establish RivEthics Clubs In Schools
The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, has stated that RivEthics Clubs will be established in secondary schools across the state with the objective of guiding children to be responsible citizens.
Speaking at the Government House, Port Harcourt when she granted audience to the women of the Diocese of Evo of the Anglican Church, Justice Nyesom-Wike said that the first RivEthics Club will be established at the Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Grammar School (ACMGS), Elelenwo in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
She said: “A RivEthics Club will be established in ACMGS. We also plan to replicate it across other schools.
“The idea is to guide our children, to strengthen them to boost their confidence and to make them to abstain from joining cults. We are working to ensure that they become responsible citizens”.
The governor’s wife noted that teachers of the pilot school would be trained by RivEthics on how to impact positive values on the students.
She informed that RivEthics and old students of ACMGS have resolved to open accounts for all the students of ACMGS to encourage the students to imbibe a saving culture that will support their pursuit of education.
According to her: “The account is to encourage the students to start saving for their future.”
She urged other old students associations to take steps to invest in their respective schools, pointing out that such investments will help in developing the state.
Justice Nyesom-Wike said that early marriage should be discouraged as it leads to early widowhood, which breeds a circle of poverty.
Earlier, the wife of the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Evo , Mrs Chinyere Ordu, had lauded Justice Nyesom-Wike for her commitment to the better living standard for women and children.
She invited the wife of the Rivers State governor to the women’s conference of the Diocese of Evo holding between December 7 and 11, adding that wife of the governor would serve as a guest speaker at the conference.
