Ex-Tide Staff Bags Chieftaincy Title
The former Administrative Officer of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, printer of The Tide, Chief Vincent Omezuruike Wigodo was among those honoured with chieftaincy titles as the Nye Nwe Eli Rumuepirikom Kingdom, Eze Barry Amewhule Opara Owabie celebrated his third anniversary and elevation of his stool to a second class status.
While installing some chiefs last weekend at the occasion, Opara-Owabie commended the present administration for not only elevating his stool to second class status, but for ensuring that Rivers State is peaceful and remains investors’ choice east of the Niger.
According to him, the occasion was not only to rejoice for the successful three years on the throne, but because it has witnessed countless blessings and achievements, including the elevation of the throne to a second class status.
He noted that during his reign as Nye Nwe Eli Rumuepirikom, the kingdom produced the first Governor of Rivers State from Obio/Akpor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
He commended the courage of Wike for restoring peace in Rivers State, and bringing honour and confidence to the people.
He called for respect for everyone irrespective of social status, explaining that you may be looking down on the next president of the nation.
Opara-Owabie, however, commended the state government for its efforts and support to ensure that the throne does not suffer any setback and for combating crime, maintaining peace and order in the kingdom.
Speaking to journalists,one of the new chiefs, Vincent Wigodo commended the Epirikom Kingdom for the honour, and pledged to uphold the dignity of the customs and traditions of the area.
The Chairman of Rumueprikom Elders, Kingsley Owabie, commended the governor for making the kingdom assume its rightful position in Apara Kingdom.
