RSG Assures Civil Servants On Entrepreneurial Opportunities

The Rivers State Govern
ment has promised to create opportunities that will improve the entrepreneurial base of civil servants in the state.
Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Dr Rudaford LongJohn said this during the closing ceremony of a two-day wealth creation seminar organised by his ministry in conjuction with a non governmental organisation, Wisdom to Wealth, for Senior Staff of Local Government Councils in the state.
Dr LongJohn who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Lekia Bukkor, stressed the need for civil servants to think of ways of augmenting their incomes by involving in entrepreneurial activities. He also charged the participants to use the knowledge acquired at the seminar to improve their fortunes and promised that similar events would be organised for other levels of civil servants in the state.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of Wisdom to Wealth, Prince Anyunate Kio said that in this era of economic recession, civil servants must think of ways of improving their economic base rather than depending on salaries alone.
Prince Kio also stressed the need for managers of the 23 local government councils to be prudent with resources at their disposal as well as paying attention to the welfare of their workers. He expressed optimism that the participants would use the knowledge acquired to improve their conditions as well as carry the message to their various councils.
