Wike Seeks Courage In Justice Dispensation …Swears-In Customary Court Of Appeal Judge
The Rivers State
Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has called on members of the judiciary to remain courageous in the dispensation of justice to the people.
Wike also called on the judiciary not to allow the antics of some members of the public to negatively affect their judicial pronouncements but to work within the tenets of the law.
He spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt, during the swearing-in of Justice Nwadum Lahr Deemua as a judge of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal.
The governor noted that no matter the judgment delivered, there will be those that will not be satisfied with the judge’s perspective.
He said: “My advice is that judicial officers must dispense justice according to the tenets of the law. In doing this, they must be courageous and remain resolute at all times.
“Once judgments are delivered in accordance with the provision of the law, it doesn’t matter what people say. People will always make comments, whichever way judgments go.”
He assured the judiciary that his administration will continue to ensure its independence and financial autonomy.
In her remarks, Justice Nwadum Deemua, promised to dispense justice fairly, and assured the government that the Customary Court of Appeal will ensure the sustenance of the integrity of the judiciary in the state.
In attendance at the swearing-in of the judge of the Customary Court of Appeal were Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Adama Inyie Iyayi-Lamikanra, wife of the Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette-Wike, and other judges of the Rivers State Judiciary.
