Police Arrest Murder Suspect In Delta
The Delta State Police
Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspect who allegedly killed a man and injured another at Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued in Asaba recently, the command’s spokesperson, Celestina Kalu, said that the suspect had been on the run since he committed the crime on January 6.
The statement said that police detectives arrested the suspect at Abbi, following a tip-off.
“On December 10, 2015, while acting on a tip-off, police detectives attached to the Kwale Division arrested a suspected 36-year-old armed robber/murderer at Abbi town.
“The suspect, who had been on the run, allegedly shot dead one Fidelis Achigbue on January 6, 2015.
“He also shot and wounded one Dele Chibogu on his right hand and left shoulder on August 23, 2015,” the statement said.
It said items recovered from the suspect included one American-made automatic pistol, one cut-to-size single barrel gun, two live cartridges, some cell phones, a flash drive and charms.
The statement added that members of the suspect’s gang had opened fire on the detectives in an attempt to free the suspect but were successfully repelled.
It said that investigation into the matter had begun while efforts had been intensified to apprehend other members of the criminal gang now on the run.
