Rivers Market Women Hail Wike, Banigo
The Market Women Asso
ciation of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, has commended Governor of the state, Chief Nyesom Wike and his deputy, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo for the development strides of the present administration.
President of the Association, Mrs Charity Abonyo, gave this commendation in her speech when they paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Banigo in her office, recently.
Abonyo, who spoke through the secretary of the Association, Ms Helen Iyalla, congratulated Governor Wike and his Deputy, on their victory at the polls and prayed God to guide and guard them as they pilot the affairs of the state.
Abonyo stated that already the people of the state could feel the positive impact of their administration, especially in steady power supply that is being experienced in Port Harcourt.
She observed that Dr Banigo’s position as the first female Deputy Governor of the state was undoubtedly an upliftment for the women of the state and stressed that they have no doubt that the gender equation would be balanced by the time the governor was through with his constitution of the state executive council.
She used the opportunity to thank the Wike-led administration in the payment of workers’ salaries and repairs of broken down roads, noting especially roads around the major markets in the state.
She also thanked the government on its promise to float soft loans to small scale business operators, while appealing that the loans be delivered in no distant time.
In her address, the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, stated that the state government was determined to improve the living conditions of the people as well as the commercial activities in the state and thanked them for the visit.
