The terminal is one of the busiest container terminals in West Africa, handling nearly 90 per cent of Nigeria’s inbound containers.
The owners of the terminal have invested 350 million dollars (N80.5 billion) on expansion programme since 2006 and this had resulted to increase in container volumes and productivity.
Since August 2013, there had been regular rail services, moving containers three times a week from the port to Kano in the Northern part of the country.
