NIMASA’s New Acting DG Resumes Duty
Mr Haruna Jauro has formally taken over from Mr Calistus Nwabueze Obi as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
A statement by the Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations, Mr Isichei Osamgbi, disclosed that the handover ceremony took place at the agency’s office in Lagos on Monday.
The statement said that Obi pledged his support for Jauro and urged other staff of the agency to support the new acting director general.
“Obi assured that the excellent working relationship between him and the new acting DG would continue in order to lift the agency to greater heights,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Jauro expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity given him to serve the nation in his new capacity.
He thanked staff of NIMASA for their commitment to duty and craved the cooperation of all for the realisation of the mandate of the agency.
“I want to thank all staff of NIMASA for the commitment to the objectives of this agency.
“I crave your cooperation so that together we can actualise the objectives for which the agency was set up,” the statement quoted the acting DG as saying.
Jauro, who until his appointment was the Executive Director Finance and Administration in the agency, is expected to be in charge until a substantive Director General is appointed, the statement said.
NIMASA had on July 21 issued a statement announcing Obi as acting director general after Dr Ziakede Akpobolokemi’s sack as director general of the agency.
The agency later on July 25 announced the takeover of the position of the acting director general by Jauro.
