Gov Assures On Discovery, Harnessing Of Mineral Resources
Governor Samuel Ortom
of Benue State has assured the people of the state that during his tenure, the abundant mineral resources in the state, would be discovered and harnessed.
The governor gave the assurance yesterday in Makurdi at the opening of a three day retreat for members of the newly constituted state Executive Council and Caretaker Committee chairmen of local government councils.
The governor said he was optimistic that mineral deposits, especially Gold, were abound in the state and only waiting to be discovered and exploited for the good of the people.
He said his victory at the polls exemplified the unique power of God above human calculations and therefore advised the appointees to have the fear of God in all their dealings.
The governor said all the appointments were made after embarking on series of prayers to choose the right that would help him steer the ship of government.
He, therefore, urged them to offer quality service to the people of the state, promising to provide the enabling ground for their success.
“As the captain of the ship, I will promote a common bound amongst you and provide you the enabling environment to perform your duties,” he pledged.
He said the retreat was to sensitize the appointees to imbibe the philosophy of his administration and therefore warned them to shun rumor mongering and gossips.
