Surveyors Task Professionals On ICT Utilisation
The Nigerian institute of Quantity Surveyors has urged professionals in building sector to exploit the benefits provided by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for effective and quick project delivery.
Chairman of the NIQS, Rivers state branch, Edighoman Ewa disclosed this to The Tide Correspondent in an interview recently .
Ewa said the development around the world has made contractors and project managers to look for better and faster ways of project delivery.
He said better project delivery will in no way elude professionals in the building sector in Nigeria, pointing out that the world is now a global village, and the ICT is performing the magic of such serve delivery in the sector.
The Association Chairman said that the association that have not been fully utilized to benefit the construction industry.
He said “if you want to bid for a Job in Dubai, since they are ahead of us in Nigeria, you have to do it with pure ICT compliant. You must know how to handle it by bidding through ICT, and getting through the same medium”.
He regretted that many quantity surveyors do not make use of such facilities available and therefore for knowledge on the new trend in technology in the sector.
Ewa however urged professionals in the housing and budding environment to determine where to invest their resource adding that investment in ICT is now a profitable one.
