Ministry Tasks RBDAs On Revenue
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr Istifanus Musa, last Wednesday urged the River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) to improve on their sources of revenue generation.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Boade Akinola, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations Unit, and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The statement quoted the permanent secretary, as making the call at the thanksgiving service, awards and send-forth organised by the Cross River Basin Development Authority in Calabar, Cross River.
Musa said that the economic challenges currently facing the nation should encourage the management of the ministry and RBDAs to re-strategise towards achieving their desired goals.
He urged the River Basin Development Authorities to improve on their sources of revenue generation.
“Our ministry expects the Management and Staff of the River Basin Development Authorities to improve on revenue generation; optimise the use of available assets and ensure judicious utilisation of government funds.
“We will continue to accord high premium to staff matters so that you can contribute your best,” he said.
Musa expressed the hope that the award would encourage staff to put in their best in the service, which would later translate to maximum output.
“We believe in recognition as a very positive human developmental practice and we commend the Cross River Basin Development Authority for this gesture.
“We expect this event to improve the family spirit among staff.
“It is our hope that the nomination of staff for the various awards have followed the due process of objective assessment and that only the deserving staff are rewarded,” he said.
The permanent secretary reiterated the ministry’s commitment to discharge its duties within the available financial resources.
