Princewill Tells PDP To Respect Rivers Diversity
A frontline Governorship
aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, has warned his party that last Saturday rally of the All Progressives Congress is a signal that the party should respect the cultural diversity of the state or lose the 2015 general election.
Pincewill who stated this Tuesday after obtaining the Governorship intent form for the party primaries, said the party in the state should also be alert that politics is no longer a business as usual.
According to him, “I want to make it clear that the attempt to disregard our cultural diversity in Rivers State will not end well and will only spell doom for PDP’s prospects. All attempts to drive this point home have yielded no result, so as a Kalabari prince and a major stakeholder in the state, “respect our people’s wishes and provide level playing field or else, the stakeholders of the state will be forced to do it for you”.
“We have faced a similar situation in the past. The record books are there to show how it was reversed. The history of Rivers State is clear. Goliath never wins David. A word is enough for the wise. Let the number of aspirants and their cultural distribution be a marker. Real leaders make tough decisions. It is time to see who the real leaders are,” he added.
He disclosed that the youths of the state obtained the intent form for him to enable him contest the party primaries.
Princewill said this would clear all doubts that he has backed out of the race, commended the youths who are hungry for change of leadership.
The aspirant assured that with the commitment of the youths and those who truly love the state, the change in the state and leadership will come.
According to him, “This is a new beginning. The opportunity to retrace the path of our dear state is here. The journey ahead will be tough, but I assure you, it will be worth it.
He urged his supporters to focus on the uncertainties ahead and not the certainties behind, adding that others can enjoy being Goliaths, but we should just remain like Davids.
“We can’t overemphasize the fact that politics is too important to be left to politicians. This is gradually sinking into the minds of many, making our Nigerians politics more a one man, one vote scenario. People matter; we in team Princewill have always know that and now the politicians all over will know it too”, he said.
