NCC, Others Warm Up For ICT Fiesta
As the October 30,
date for the 2014 Nigeria ICT festival draws closer, the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and other similar agencies say they are ready to participate in the programme.
Some of such agencies, include the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), which industry watchers believed have over the years, shown a great interest in IT development of the country.
Our reporter in an online news, Wednesday, gathered that the event would be headed by the immediate past President of ATCON, Engr Titi Omo-Ettu, while the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr Eugene Juwah, will serve as a special guest of honour.
The theme of the event which is, Broadband: Path to Digital Future,” and would be expected to draw a large Chunk of blue-chip operators in the Nigerian ICT space.
The Tide gathered that this year’s ICT festival, would serve as a platform to further celebrate the achievement of the sector over the years.
It will also give regulators, operators and tele-com consumers the opportunity to generate strategy plan of action for the future growth of the industry.
It was further learnt that operators would be provided room to exhibit their latest products and solutions to the market.
According to Mr Prince Cookey, the theme of the event, aptly captures the essence of the broadband initiative by the federal government.
He noted that even the NCC would have a kind of assurance that will enable it have a sustainable growth of the industry through application of the broadband technology.
Cookey reasoned that the festival would be the single largest gathering of all players in the telecom industry.
The ICT operator expressed optimism that the event will provide positive result given the number of IT experts that have indicated interest in the programme.
Some topics of the event would include: Mobile Money in the Age of Broadband: The CBN Roadmap; Broadband; Opportunities and Challenges for Banks in Nigeria, among others.
