ACCIMA Bemoans Poor Energy Supply In Anambra
The Anambra Chamber
of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA), has bemoaned the poor electricity supply in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State Capital on Friday, the ACCIMA Chairman, Chief Udezie Okechukwu, said the dismal electricity supply to Anambra was affecting manufacturing companies competitiveness.
Okechukwu said that the poor electricity was having untold effect on the manufacturing sector thereby negating the enthusiasm of industrialists in Anambra for wealth creation and expansion of their businesses.
He said manufacturers in Anambra are faced with multiple taxes with the poor electricity supply, stressing that the situation was encouraging some importers to dump inferior goods in the country.
The ACCIMA boss said the poor power supply had made some of the factories redundant.
He urged the governments to reduce the high tariff paid by companies in the country as such increasing tariff has become a serious disincentive to industrialists and importers.
The ACCIMA boss called on the three tiers of government to harmonise the nation’s tax issues, adding that the multiple taxation and instable electricity supply are making the nation effort at national industrial revolution a mirage.
Okechukwu called for improved electricity supply not only in Anambra State but through out the country to boost the industrial efforts of the present administration especially in the manufacturing sector.
