Commission Clears Air On Poor Service
The Nigerian Communi
cation Commission (NCC) has described as false the claims by operators of telecommunication services that excessive down pour in the past months was responsible for poor service experienced in the country.
The Executive Vice Chairman, Dr Eugene Juwah of the commission , said this recently while reacting to issues raised by telecom operators on the issue of poor service.
He said this disagreement was based on the fact that Nigeria was net operating in a different telecom space in the globe.
Juwah, stood his ground that telecom business was international thing, adding that the possibilities of different countries operating under different arrangement was zero.
Juwah, pointed out that subscribers money spent in subscription are not justified due to the continuous poor service syndrome.
He however said that the commission is committed to ensuring that consumers are protected from all forms of challenges associated with network provision.
It would be recalled that telecom operators met recently in Lagos at the annual telecoms consumer parliament organised by the NCC where they attributed the poor services being experienced by subscribers in recent times to much rainfall.
Others who spoke at the event, said no network sets out to provide poor service as most service disruptions are caused by challenges above service providers.
They lamented situation where some state governments in the country, seal up the Base Trans receiver Stations (BTS) of service providers in the guise to collect rent and other entitlements.
They maintained that such practices inhibits growth in the industry and the nation at large.
He noted that as long as such practices among others continues unchecked, that subscribers in the country would continue to cry over poor service.
