Ekiti Partners Rivers On Donor Agencies Coordination
The Government of Ekiti State has pledged to partner with the Rivers State Government to secure a common platform for the effective management and coordination of international Donor Agencies activities for better impact on society.
The partnership between the two States were consolidated through a three days Ekiti State experience sharing visit to the office of the Rivers State Governor, on inter Donor agencies, Bestman Nnwoka.
Speaking during an interactive session in Port Harcourt last Monday, leader of the Ekiti State delegation and Director multilateral Relations Department in charge of Partner Programmes in Ekiti State, Mr Faniyan Babasola, commended the Rivers State Government for the giants strides recorded in the handling of Donor Agencies Programmes.
He said the in-depth experience and achievements on ground in Rivers State were clear testimonies of the level of political will and commitment to development in the State.
Babasola said “we are believing that the visit will enable us to learn from the depth of experience in Rivers State to promote activities in Ekiti in the areas of improvement in technical capabilities, counterpart founding and other incentives.”
He said the priority areas of develop interest in Ekiti were on HIV/AIDS, European European Union Support Programmes, Poverty Eradication, Youths Development, Agriculture, Health and Gender issues.
Babalola pointed out that the synergy between the two States will enhance accessibility to funds, counterpart funding and great impact on society.
In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Donor Agencies, Bestman Nnwoka said Rivers State was poised to ensure effective management of Donor Agencies activities in line with Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) objectives.
The Special Adviser who was represented by the Admin officer, Mr Okechuku Amadi, said implementation programmes in Rivers State, is carried out through implementing partners such as the Rivers State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Environment, Bureau of Public Procurement, Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Rivers State Micro Finance Agency (RIMA) and Civil Society Groups.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
