Imoke Charges Old Boys On Nation Building
Gov. Liyel Imoke of
Cross River State has advised old students of Kings’ College, Lagos to ensure that their individual successes are translated into collective success for the growth and development of Nigeria.
Imoke gave the advice at the Kings’ College Old Boys Association Class ’78 Re-union in Calabar on Saturday.
According to Imoke, the school’s old boys are capable of contributing positively to the social, political and economic growth of the country.
He said that the re-union provided an opportunity for them to reflect on what Nigeria had become, compared with what it was when they were in school.
The governor explained that there was a strong bond of relationship among them which grew over the years not minding where one came from noting that being the last generation which grew up with core values, they understood what Nigeria was like.
In his keynote address, The Vice Chairman, African Finance Corporation and an old boy Mr Andrew Ali said that the college, through discipline and good training raised men of repute nationally and internationally.
Ali said that the re-union afforded them the opportunity to reflect on the past, share ideas as well as look ahead in line with current realities.
The Special Adviser to the Cross River Governor on Public Transportation, Mr Edem Ekong, said that the the old boys intended to visit some selected schools in Calabar to interact with students.
The General Manager, State Tourism Bureau, Mr Michael Williams, and Special Adviser, Investment Promotion, Mr Gerald Adah made multi-media presentations on their agencies.
