‘Obio/Akpor ’ll Always Support Amaechi’
Former Vice Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr. Lawrence Chukwu, has dismissed views in some quarters that the people of the area are against the administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
Dr. Chukwu told newsmen in Port Harcourt that it was wrong to believe that the people of Obio/Akpor have pledged their support to the Minister of State for Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike, saying such will amount to ungratefulness as Governor Amaechi has transformed the area beyond other administrations since the creation of the council.
The University Lecturer also debunked claims that the minister of state for education is the political leader in the local government area.
The former Obio/Akpor vice chairman asserted that contribution of the minister to the area cannot be compared to that done by Governor Amaechi’s administration, saying “before now, most of our youths were engaged in touting and revenue collection, but now, many of them are under scholarships and skills training”.
Also, former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Obio/Akpor, Hon. Collins Ordu observed that the people of the area have been liberated and given a new lease of life by Rt. Hon. Amaechi’s administration.
Hon. Ordu emphasised the need for the people of Obio/Akpor to continue their support for the Amaechi-led administration, as that was the only way to attract development and peace.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
