In line with its commitment towards ensuring employment opportunities for the thousands of unemployed youths of Rivers State, the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has planned a job Fair in the state.
The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency Mr Noble Pepple disclosed this during the unveiling of the RSSDA Fair 2013 logo in Port Harcourt.
Pepple said that the Fair which holds in August this year was one of the several initiatives of the State Government to ease the lot of many residents of the state who find themselves not only jobless, but almost hopeless.
According to him, this plan shows government’s commitment to ease the triple challenge of unemployment inequality and poverty in the state.
“This initiative created by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) in Conjunction with the Ministry of Employment Generation and Empowerment, is designed to help employers and potential employees find one another”.
Mr Pepple described the proposed Fair as a platform for screened job seekers to meet with prospective employers and employment opportunities.
“Employers from various sectors of the economy can use this avenue to meet and possibly interview a large number of job seekers with broad. Qualification for immediate future”, he said.
He appealed to companies in the state to partner with the government in this venture as the situation would help stakeholders to deal with the problem of youth unemployment.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including the Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment.
