Stakeholders Hail FG Over Remodelling Of Airports
The aviation stakeholders Square Table (ASST), have commended the Federal Government for the massive improvement that has taken place in the country’s aviation industry.
President of the group, Capt. Balarabe Usman (rtd),gave the commendation in a statement made available to The Tide source in Lagos.
Usman noted that the country’s airports had suffered infrastructure decay in the last 15 years.
He said that the intervention of the federal government had suddenly turned the sector into a huge construction site, due to the ongoing airport remodelling projects.
“The airport remodelling project is the second most significant airport development project of the country so far.
“This is coming after the Aerodrome Development Programme of the mid-1970s that led to the creation of the then Nigerian Airports Authority, the precursor of FAAN.
“It was regrettable that rather than receive commendation for bringing about tangible improvements in the industry, the minister of aviation, was being castigated by some industry stakeholders, “ he said.
Usman called on the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, not to be distracted by the antics of detractors in the industry, but to continue with the transformational work.
He advised government to recruit fresh hands into the system to strengthen the aviation personnel.
Usman also urged government to create designated terminals for perishable and non- perishable cargo.
