LG Boss Assures On Campaign Promises
In fulfillment of his campaign promise, the chairman of
Degema Local Government council, Hon. Daddy Opokoma has reiterated his
administration’s commitment to the development of the area.
Hon. Opokoma who gave the assurance on the occasion of
Nigeria’s 52nd Independence Anniversary at Degema, the headquarters of the
council, listed his administration’s achievement saying that in less than a
year, his administration has embarked on capital projects that had never been
done in the history of the council.
He hinted that, he has spent over N180 million so far in the
ongoing construction of 10,000-capacity
Stadium in Degema town billed for completion by December, 2012.
The council boss also revealed that the ongoing
electrification of Bakana and its satellites villages would be completed and
commissioned before the end of this year.
Opokoma who scored his council high in human capital
development said plans are underway to establish a marriage registry in the
council, regretting that Degema which is among the oldest local government
areas in the state has no such registry to serve the needs of intending
couples.
Canvasing support and cooperation of the people of the area
for his administration, he reiterated his readiness to accommodate everyone
irrespective of party affiliation especially in sharing ideas and opinions that
would enhance the development of the area.
He thanked the people of the area and the entire Kalabari
nation for maintaining the state government’s peace initiative.
In his speech, the chairman of the peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in DELGA, Hon. Tekebor Gogo Abite commended the council chairman for
making the party proud by fulfilling his electioneering campaign promises.
He assured the council boss of the party’s continued support
to ensure that the people of the area enjoy democracy dividend.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
