17 Win Information Ministry Best Staff Awards
Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, has reassured its workers and those of the parastatals under the Ministry of its willingness to continue to encourage them for better productivity and output.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, who stated this during the April, May and June Award ceremony of the Ministry; commended the women for their active role within the months under review.
Out of the 17 Awardees, women in the main Ministry and various parastatals clinched nine of the awards.
Mrs Florence D. Boisa and Mr. Frank Nwinmonta of the Commissioner’s office were winners of May and June, respectively while in the Accounts Department, Mrs Leyira Pyagbara and Mrs Rosannah Gbasibo were also winners in May and June, respectively.
In the Publications Department, Owupele Benebo emerged winner in April, while Edna Aletewon that of May and Stephen Ukaegbu, June.
Eric Opuada Uzoma and Jenewari Harry – Utomi were winners for May and June from Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation while Kenoye Akasi and Orus Igo of the Public Enlightenment were winners in April and May in that unit.
The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation has Mrs Rose Onwusor and Miss Mother Jack for April; and Ms Chidi Mpi and Mr. Sopirinye Jaja emerged winners in the month of April and May from Rivers State Television. The Government Printing Press has Ms Mercy Harry and Mrs Selepriri Carrie.
Mrs Semenitari however noted that the excellent performance of the women was an indication that herself as the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary who is also a woman were working.
The Commissioner urged workers to continue to do their best at all times, noting that the Ministry has a plan for the staff of the year which she said would be a bumper package in December and urged them to work towards winning the staff of the year award.
Responding on behalf of the Awardee, Ms Chidi Mpi of the Rivers State Television. (RSTV) commended the Commissioner and promised to continue to put in their best.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
