Exchange Index Dips Amidst High Turnover
A total of 823.83 million shares worth N2.13 billion were traded in 3, 513 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday.
This was against the 168.08 million shares worth N1.39 billion exchanged in 3,816 deals on Wednesday.
The Tide source reports that the market indices dipped by 0.35 per cent in spite of higher volume and value of shares traded..
The All-Share Index, which opened at 20,814.35, depreciated by 72.26 points to close at 20,742.09.
Also, the market capitalisation depreciated by N23 billion to close at N6.615 trillion against the N6. 638 trillion recorded on Wednesday.
Mobil led the losers’ chart with a loss of N6.98 to close at N139.02 per share.
Nestle followed with a loss of N2.50 to close at N415 per share, while ConOil dropped N1.22 to close at N23.22 per share.
Oando depreciated by 42k to close at N18.40 per share, while Unilever dipped by 39k to close at N30.60 per share.
On the other hand, NewGold led the price gainers’ chart with a gain of N18 to close at N2, 543 per unit.
CAP trailed with 70k to close at N21.72 per share, while EternaOil grew by 16k to close at N3.47 per share.
UBN appreciated by 13k to close at N2.82 per share, while Stanbic IBTC rose by 7k to close at N6.90 per share.
The Tide gathered that the conglomerates sub-sector was the most active with 611.56 million shares valued at N313.09 million exchanged in 126 deals.
Transcorp drove activity in the sector with 611.14 million shares worth N306.14 million traded in 71 deals.
