REDAN Plans ‘Lands Bank’ For Mass Housing Dev
The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), says it plans to have ‘lands bank’ in all parts of the country to achieve mass housing development for its members.
The REDAN President, Mr Olabode Afolayan, said this yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
Afolayan said that this would enable the association to acquire lands for its members in all the 36 states of the federation and Abuja.
According to him, the association will from the ‘lands bank’ allocate to its members who are interested in the mass housing development.
“By this, our members will continue to increase housing stock and as well work around the limitations of the Land Use Act of 1978,” he said.
The REDAN president said that the association was doing it in conjunction with the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Federal Ministry of Housing, Lands and Urban Infrastructure and state ministries of lands and housing.
He said that the association was waiting for the National Assembly to review the various housing laws pending before it.
Afolayan said that REDAN had decided to be proactive to ensure that its members took active part in mass housing development.
He said that lack of access to land had been one of the major hindrances to housing delivery.
