Rivers Songhai Hosts Executive Council Retreat Friday
Baring any last minute change in plans, the Rivers State Songhai farm project at Bunu Tai in the Tai Local Government Area will host the first Rivers State Government Executive council retreat on the 30th of October, 2011.
The Executive Director of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) Mr Noble Pepple who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said that the agency is not leaving any stone unturned towards the provision of accommodation for the 120 delegates expected at the retreat.
Mr Pepple said that, the retreat will create opportunities for the people of both Rivers State and other Nigerians to come to terms with what the state governor Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is doing in the state in the area of food security.
The RSSDA Executive Director also said that the second phase of the Songhai farm project which commences very soon will have a three Star Hotel that will serve as an ECO tourism centre.
According to him, the Rivers State Songhai farm project was set up to provide support to farmers across, the state while the agency’s regional farms and aquaculture centres located in major centre in the state is providing support to farmers with the view to impacting skills to them.
Meanwhile the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has disclosed plans for a grassroot millionaire programme for the state.
The manager enterprise development, RSSDA, Mr Sylvester Okoh disclosed this while conducting newsmen round the RSSDA regional aquaculture centre at Ubima in the Ikwerre Local government Area.
Mr Okoh said that the programme which starts with 145 youths will see them being attach to business centres for skills acquisition.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
