RSG Warns Ikwerre Road Landlords
The Rivers State Government has called on landlords in Port Harcourt, whose structures are on the right of way at the Ikwerre Road dualisation project, stretching from the Education Bus Stop to UST roundabout to remove them within two weeks or have the ministry demolish them.
Making the call recently, during an inspection of the project, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Sir Promise Njiowhor, noted that the reluctance of the landlords to remove their structures had delayed the mounting of PHCN electric poles in the appropriate places.
He also called on the traders who erected illegal stalls on the road alignment to remove them within two weeks to enable the contractor carry out work, announcing that the contractor had promised to complete the project this month.
The Permanent Secretary, however, used the opportunity to call on those who are yet to receive payment of their compensation to report at the ministry as the present government is concerned about the well-being of its citizenry and commended them for the co-operation in the face of all the inconveniences caused.
