LGSC Boss Tasks Health Providers On Seven Point Agenda
The Chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Ephraim Sobere Etete-Owoh has tasked medical practitioners in the country to work with the Federal Government on the realisation of the seven-point agenda.
Chief Etete-Owoh said this while addressing participants at the maiden zonal conference of the South-South and South-East Forum of Local Government Nurses and Midwives (FOLGONM) at Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital.
He also urged health providers in the various local governments across the country to gear up towards the elimination of the five infant killer diseases.
The commission boss commended the association for the workshop, stressing that it would go a long way in creating the required awareness and preparedness to tackle the problems associated with health care delivery in the various states.
Chief Etete-Owoh who is also the Chairman, Forum of Local Government Service Commission in the country particularly commended the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for revolutionizing the health sector through the construction of 105 model health centres across the state, and commended other states in the zone for improving their health services.
According to him, the commission was sponsoring 40 health personnel for training in the various institutions while others were also being trained to man the 355 health centres across the state.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Akwa-Ibom Stae Local Government Service Commission, Mr Godwin Afangideh said that the state government had concluded arrangement to employ more nurses and midwives.
In her speech, the zonal chairman of the forum urged members to embrace continuous education to improve themselves and enhance their productivity.
