Court Remands Man For Defiling Daughters


A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Chief Magistrate F. N. Amanze, has remanded one Mr. Gabriel Monday Etuk in prison custody for allegedly abusing two of his underaged daughters sexually.
Mr. Etuk, who resided at Circular Road, Pipeline, Rumukwurushi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State was alleged to have violated his daughters sometime in 2008 and 4th January, 2019 respectively.
His two daughters; Blessing Gabriel 8, and Mercy Gabriel 12, were victims of the alleged violation.
Mr. Etuk, who was arraigned on a two-count charge of sexual abuse pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate Amanze, who remanded the accused person to prison custody expressed surprise that a man could sexually abuse two of his daughters.
She said she would want to understand how a person could have carnal knowledge of his daughters.
“Imagine the fear and molestation the kids have gone through”, she noted.
The accused person who unlawfully had carnal knowledge of his daughters, committed an offence punishable under section 2018 of the criminal code “CBB” Vol. 11 Laws of the Federation 2004 for the 1st count.
On the 2nd count, he was alleged to have committed an offence punishable under section 32(1) and (2) of Child Rights Act 2003, Laws of the Federation.
The case was adjourned to the 9th of May 2019.
