A Port Harcourt-based lawyer, Mr. Orji George has called on the people of Rivers State to shun violence and cultism in order to usher in development in the state.
Mr. George who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt last Monday expressed regrets that cultism had caused a lot of carrage in rural communities of Rivers State where law enforcement agents were not available.
He said the youths had made themselves willing tools in the hands in vicious politicians and mischief makers and described the scenario as unfortunate.
The Port Harcourt lawyer remarked that the youths must engage themselves in meaningful ventures instead of involving themselves in crime.
He told the youths not to make themselves available for violence and other crimes.
Mrs. Orji said the youths were the future leaders of the society and must prepare themselves for leadership.
He said the cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping were not doing the society any good.
Mr. Orji called on the state government to do something fast to stem the spate of violence in our society.
He said all must join hands to rid the society of ills plaguing it.
