A Port Harcourt- based lawyer, Mr. Chijioke Agi, has called on government at all levels in the country to ensure security of lives and property.
Mr. Agi, who stated this while speaking with the Tide in Port Harcourt at the weekend, decried the porous security situation across the nation.
He expressed regrets that people were kidnapped, attacked and robbed on our major high ways across the country, yet the security agents have not been able to catch the culprits.
He said security of lives and properties was a primary function of government.
Mr. Agi, who was speaking against the background of electoral violence, remarked that government was not enough to stem the spate of violence.
He said the security agents should brace up to the challenges before them.
The Port Harcourt lawyer stated that East-West Road had become a flashpoint and noted that government must do something urgently to check the trend.
He called on all stakeholders to work concertedly so that commuters would be able to go about their lawful duties without fear.
Mr. Agi, an activist urged government to step up security measures to track hoodlums and criminals in the state.
He pointed out that insecurity would not give room for meaningful development.
He noted that insecurity could worsen if government did nothing about worsening situation.
