Former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Austin Opara has said that the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike deserves special recognition and commendation for keeping the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) together after the 2015 general elections.
Opara stated this during the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally at Community Secondary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
He stated that Rivers State has always been a PDP state since the return to democratic rule in 1999 and lauded the governor for standing firm when some powerful forces tried to forcefully capture the state.
The PDP chieftain thanked the governor for the various projects he has executed in Port Harcourt city, including completion of the Ogunabal and Abuloma roads, the UTC interchange among others.
According to him: “”We are grateful. The roads in Abuloma, Amadiama and the UTC axis are wearing a new look. If you done all these within four years, we imagine what you will do in another four years.
“We also want to thank you because Rivers State has been a PDP states since 1999, but they came with caterpillar, they came with tsunami, they came with stones to remove Rivers State from PDP but you (the governor) stood like a rock and insisted that the state is PDP.
“We are standing by you to say indeed the state will remain PDP,” Opara stated, even as he te him massively on March 2nd to enable him continue the good works he is doing,” he said.reminded the people of Port Harcourt Local Government that they owe the governor the obligation of coming out to vote him massively on March 2nd to enable him continue the good works he is doing,” he said.
He further said that the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government has neither done anything for the people of Port Harcourt city not the state as a whole; just as he decried the sorry state of the sea ports in the state.decried the sorry state of the sea ports in the state.
“Look at our Sea Ports in the old Port Harcourt township axis is not operational. That port will employ over 5, 000 people if it is operational. But today our sea port is nothing to write home about.
“Yet we have somebody from Rivers State who is the Minister of Transportation and the port under his purview is not operational, the erstwhile deputy speaker, House of Representatives stated
“We need to let them know that Rivers State and Port Harcourt in particular is PDP. Therefore our PVC is important and we must mobilize our people. We have friends, relations, tenants. We should bring everybody to vote for all PDP candidates on February 16 and March 2nd,” Opara said.
