How Cinema Business Boomed In 2018

Cinema business in Nigeria recorded a big boost towards the end of 2018 as movie buffs across the country spent over N600 million on both local and foreign films in December, 2018.
According to a recent report released by the Cinema Exhibitions Association of Nigeria (CEAN), N137 million was spent on Nollywood movies, while N543 million was spent on foreign films.
While this is proof of the growing cinema culture in the country, it also shows how movie goers prefer international movies to Nollywood flicks as the later made N137.6 million from 14th to 31st December 2018.
The break down of the amount spent on local movies is as follows:
Chief Daddy – N101.9 million
God’s Calling – N12.5 million
Lion Heart – N8.7 million
Up North – N1.6 million
Heaven On My Mind – N2.6 million
Lagos Real Fake Life – N379.750 million
Smash – N77,500
Total – N137.6 million
