Fruit Garden Market Traders Appreciate Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike presenting bank drafts to the affected traders of the burnt Fruit Garden Market in Port Harcourt, recently.

As the New Year, 2019 sets in amid high hopes and expectations, traders at the Fruit Garden Market in Port Harcourt have cast a retrospective glance at the outgone year, when the market went up in flames and exposed them to grave jeopardy on account of their wares and other items that were consumed by the inferno. However, they are full of gratitude for Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who came to their rescue when it mattered most, by doling out over N145 million to them to mitigate the impact of the fire disaster. He equally awarded contract for the immediate reconstruction of the market.
Our correspondent went to the market to feel their pulse concerning the Governor’s gesture and to what extent it has among other welfare packages announced by the state government their businesses are expected to be boosted in the New Year.

The Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, we are talking about, I know him as a talk and do governor. He never talks and fails. For instance, as the Fruit Garden Market got burnt, the speed and level at which the building project has gone, I raise my hand for him as a sign of my appreciation to the governor because there is no other governor to be compared to him.
Ordinarily, when this kind of incident happens, who we hear or see are the governor’s representatives that would come to make unfulfilled promises, but with the Wike administration, the reverse is the case.
Since this fire incident took place, he has been here with us on several occasions and has kept to all the promises he made to us on that fateful day. He is really a good man and my people say good thing, they don’t cover it.
For me, I pray that God should help him to lead us forever because he is a true man of his words and anyone that says he is not doing well and that he should be removed, does not like good things. I thank him and pray that God would bless his generation and even the ones yet unborn.
For the free interest loan, although many of us are not aware, if he has said he would give this loan, he would give because he is a man of his words. I have no doubt about him.

The Rivers State Governor is an excellent Governor as you can see that project the way he said it and we are all happy about the speed he is putting into the building of the market to ensure it is completed soonest.
I said he is an excellent Governor because he listens to the voices of the poor masses and shares in their predicament. For instance, the day that section of the market was gutted by fire that night, Thursday breaking Friday, September 27-28, 2018, the governor heard it and came immediately and he was with us till very early that morning and still at the break of day, the Governor came again and promised that he was going to build the market and then settle all those that were affected by the fire and today he has fulfilled all that he promised.
I am one of the beneficiaries of the N400, 000.00 cash he gave to those that were affected by the fire. Now, there is a positive dramatic turnaround in my business, so I am happy and pray that God would continue to take him to high places.
I love the Governor so much because he is a man of integrity, he has been my candidate right from the onset even before the fire incident that took place in the market.
For the free interest loan that the Governor has decided that he would give traders, it shows that he loves his people, especially the traders and wants everyone of us to have a sense of belonging and get to the level that he wants his people to get to and that is the level that is above poverty. We love him so much, we appreciate and pray that God would continue to take him higher and higher as we all in the Fruit Garden Market would ensure we vote him to come back in 2019.

Mr Levi Okorogu, aka Solo, fruits dealer
The Governor is really a talk and do governor and we are all happy and appreciate him for his kind gestures towards us. Since this incident took place in the market, he has not reneged on the promises he made to all of us that were affected although 42 members are yet to benefit as a result of wrong spellings, nick and our business names that were written down and handed over to the Governor.
The governor loves us too much to have empowered us in the first place. It’s a step in the right direction that would discourage many from going into criminal activities and being lazy.
I have personally loved the governor right from the onset. I am not an indigene of Rivers State, I am from Imo State, but seeing that he has not disappointed his people since he came into office, he has been working more than the other 35 governors in the country.
If I have my way, I will vote him over and over again in order for him to remain in power until everyone in all sectors has a touch of his government.
I want to please use this medium to make an appeal to His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State to please still create room for all of us, the remaining 42 members of the market who didn’t benefit from the cash donation due to the fact that we were not around when the incident happened and those that were around gave the governor our market nick names which were later removed from the original list.
Although the mistake had been made already, we believe that the governor is a man of the people and would listen and compensate us the same way he has compensated our other members that were affected by the fire.

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike is an excellent man, a talk and do governor and when he says yes, he cannot go back to say no. For instance, when the Fruit Garden Market was gutted by fire, the governor immediately stepped in and wiped away tears from the eyes of the poor people and in fact, everyone’s eye in the state because all of us now directly and indirectly are going to benefit from the building of the gigantic market the governor is putting up there at the main market site.
He came by himself to compensate everyone that was affected by the fire. He did not send anyone to stand in for him at that moment. This is one of the qualities of a good leader. This is what other governors had not done in the history of Rivers State before. Governor Wike did it because he is a true son of the state.
No power would be able to push, him out from that seat. He will continue to be our governor.
If I get the interest free loan, I will utilise it very well by expanding my business as well as encouraging and empowering my younger ones in the business.
I will ensure that I make enough profit from the free interest loan money. As we all know the Wike-led government has good intention for us, the marketers. Also, the governor does not segregate against the people, he runs an all-inclusive administration.
As it is now, the only way we can show our appreciation is to get our Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready to vote for him in this year’s general elections.
