…Director Assures Successful Competition


The Director Grassroots Sports Development, in Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ademola Are has said that machineries have been put  in place for a successful competition.
He stated that the ministry will ensure that states does not field over age athletes, because they want to win medals at all cost.
Dr. Are said this, yesterday while briefing sports journalists in Ilorin, saying that necessary steps are taken to stop various challenges facing the games.
According to him, in this edition all athletes will  go home with a souvenir, adding that feeding of athletes has improved tremendously.
“ We will not allow  states to field over age athletes, because they want to win medals. We are going to ensure that the screening committee do a thorough job.
In fact the rules of the games says any state that field over age athletes and dual registration will be fined with N250,000, accordingly”, Dr. Are said.
He further revealed that Ilorin will host the competition for next five years, but that does not mean that we cannot give another state to host if that state is fully ready.
