C’ttee Chairman Wants Wike To Check Security Threat In Community


The Chairman of Egbeda Conflict Resolution and Project Monitoring Committee, Mr. Chibuzor Ogbuji has called on the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to urgently address the security challenges facing the community.
Mr. Ogbuji, who made the call in Egbeda in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday implored Governor Wike to rescue the community from the grip of cultists, who had laid siege on the community in recent times.
He expressed regrets that the youths of the community were dying in their numbers as a result of cultism.
The chairman noted that despite all the efforts made by the paramount ruler of Egbeda to pacify the warring cult groups, heads had continued to roll.
Mr. Ogbuji said that Eze Christopher Didia, Nyenwe Ali-Egbeda had received death threats from members of Dey-gbam confraternity because of his call for peace in the community.
He said no community would make meaningful progress if peace was elusive .
The chairman stressed the need for all warring cultists to drop their guns and embrace peace.
He said the people of Egbeda, an agrarian community could no longer go to farm because of the precarious situation in the area.
Mr. Ogbuji said unless something was done urgently to stem the tide, Egbeda Community would be thrown into crisis.
He warned community members to desist from sponsoring cultism in the area.
