Ex-Militant Alleges Plot To Invade Ogoniland


An ex-militant in Rivers State, Chief Solomon Ndigbara has alleged that there is a plan by the military to invade Ogoniland in the building to the 2019 general elections.
Ndigbara, who said this in an interview with newsmen at his hideout said that there were credible information that the military are planning another invasion of the area.
According to him, there is a credible information that the security agencies are on top gear to devastate Ogoniland, particularly Bud Yeche and Bori and stressed that the strategy is being employed by some politicians to discredit him and his kiths and kins wherever election is nearer.
He also stressed the need for the security agencies particularly the police to intensify their efforts in reducing crime in Ogoni stressing that he was rendered homeless few years back despite his commitment to fighting crime in Ogoniland.
Chief Ndigbara therefore stressed the need for the Ogonis to be on guard against any further attempt by the military to invade the area.
Also speaking, the Youth President of Yeghe, Mr. Penu Christian Barile warned youths of the community to know those they bring to the community as friends.
He said that the community would not allow the area to be used as a hideout for criminals.
Meanwhile the Nigerian Army has denied that it is planning to invade Ogoniland.
Army Public Relations Officer 6th Brigade Port Harcourt, Aminuillyasu urged Chief Ndigbara to show proof that the Army was planning to invade Ogoniland.
“The Army P.R.O who spoke in a telephone interview with The Tide said that the onus lies on Chief Ndigbara to provide proof of the purported invasion.
