Ghost Workers: LGA To Begin Staff Verification
The Gokana Local Government Council has said it would soon embark on a biometric verification in a bid to ascertain the actual number of staff on its employ.
Chairman of the local government, Hon. Paul Vidag Kobani disclosed this during an exclusive interview with The Tide at his office in Kpor, headquarters of the Local government area last Monday.
This is as Kobani said absenteeism would not be tolerated in the council, pointing out that he would not hesitate to adopt the no work, no pay rule and stated that already he had met with all directors of the local government to that effect.
He said, “I just finished a meeting of all the directors of this local government. I also told them that I want to see the nominal rolls of all the departments. I know that within a very short while, this local government is going to embark on biometrics.
“I am sure we are going to adopt the no work no pay system. For those who do not come to work in Gokana Local Government, then, it is very unfortunate because I will not tolerate that because you do not take salaries when you do not go to work.
“So I want to say that the biometrics will be so detailed that if you are not captured, you are not a staff of this local government, “Kobani stated.
On the issue of cult activities in Gokana, he said the council’s synergy with the security agencies was already yielding results, saying, “There have been issues of cultism in Gokana, I can tell you, but they were all handled professionally”.
