Stakeholders in the construction industry have been charged to adopt innovative approach on project planning and execution.
The former chairman, Nigeria Institute of Builders (NIOB), Rivers State, Moses Ugheoke made the call in a chat with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt, Monday.
Ugheoke noted that there is need for continuous training and retraining of professionals to keep them abreast with modern challenges and innovations in the construction sector of the economy.
He added that research and creativity are pivotal in repositioning the industry and attracting young minds who are energetic and adventurous with modern technology to the industry.
The former NIOB boss observed that without innovation and creativity, it is impossible to break new grounds that would ensure sustainability.
He noted that the methods of carrying out construction works are basically the same as in the past whereas new, efficient, faster and cheaper methods are now being used globally.
Ugheoke encouraged built industry professionals to take up continuous development courses that would help familiarise them with modern global trends in construction and place them at par with their international counterparts.
