The Federal Government and security operatives have been called upon to work assiduously in safeguarding lives and property of Nigerians.
This was contained in a communiqué signed by the National Executive Chairman of Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (AOCTRON), King Dandeson Douglas Jaja (JP) Vice Chairman, HOM Eze (Dr) Oliver Shaweh Obi Gburu-Gburu of Ihim, Imo State, King Leslie N. Eke Eli Oha Evo III, South South Regional coordinator), South West Zonal Coordinator, Oba Festus Adekunle Adeyemi alakola of Akola Ijesha Osun State and AOCTRON founder, Rev. (Dr) Gbenga Ademuyiwa in Enugu and was made available to the press in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
The statement also frowned at the incessant killings of Nigerians in various parts of the country.
According to the group in its communiqué, the safety of Nigerians and their property among other things, should be the main focus of the government and its relevant agencies which should be maintained in line with the oath they swear to.
They stressed that they affirm their belief in the unity and progress of the country as well as belief in one Nigeria.
Furthermore, the group called on all traditional rulers in the country to be alive to their responsibilities as custodians of customs and traditions of the people.
The statement pointed out that by so doing, they would be able to give the people the expected quality leadership as traditional rulers.
They also advised all adult citizens to be alive to their civic responsibilities towards the forthcoming general elections next year, by ensuring that they obtain their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) in order to get their votes counted.
The statement, however, advised politicians to play politics without bitterness so as to move the nation forward.
Earlier, they appreciated the good attendance of Christian traditional rulers from the 17 southern States of the federation.
