The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ondo State Chapter, has lamented the recent sacking of 600 council workers by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of Chief Akeredolu Rotimi.
Speaking to newsmen in Akure on Wednesday, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Bosede Daramola, said the congress would resist such unilateral action of the state government now.
Daramola said that the affected civil servants were attached to the various traditional rulers in accordance with the local government extant laws, but surprisingly were relieved of their appointments when their names were removed from the remittal system of the state government.
The NLC boss added that the affected 600 workers were not paid May 2017 salaries as at when salaries were paid workers having been tactically removed from the remittal system.
The Labour Leader stressed that the affected workers were captured in the state’s remittal payment system during the previous administration in Ondo State.
She called on the Ondo State government to recall the sacked council workers across the 18 local government councils of Ondo State considering the prevailing economic hardship within this recession period in the country.
