Rivers Civil War Victim Cries Out For Help

As activities for the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Rivers State continue, a victim of the Rivers State Creation Movement, Mr Godspower Orlu has lamented his abandonment by successive administrations in the state.
Orlu, who hails from Okporowo, Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area expressed his ordeal during the last civil war (1967-70) when the state was created 50 years ago.
He said that he lost his right hand in a bomb blast while in the company of other agitators for the creation of Rivers State.
He recalled that the incident which took place in 1967 when he was five years old has affected him both physically and psychologically.
Orlu regretted that the situation has reduced him to the level of a beggar, noting that uptill this moment, no woman has accepted his hand in marriage.
According to him, previous attempts to get the supports of both the state and federal governments to come to his aid had failed.
Orlu said he wants to use the opportunity provided by the Golden Jubilee Celebration to further appeal to Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to come to his aid by supporting him financially with a view to enabling him live like a normal human being as an indigene of the state.
“I heard of the golden jubilee and how the government is helping some people.
“I am using this medium to air my problem. Government should raise funds for me”, he appealed.
He noted that posterity will not forget Governor Wike if he does what previous administrations failed to do for him.
He also also used the medium to caution those agitating for the creation of the Republic of Biafra to thread softly as another Civil War will be devastating both for the nation and individuals and condemned the resort to cultism by youths in the Niger Delta.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
