An agreement to construct an Industrial Park and a Jetty in Ikot Abasi, has been reached between the government of Akwa Ibom State and private developers led by 3W Alliance Limited.
According to a statement made available to The Tide, the state government noted that, the partnership would enhance industrialization and create business opportunities for the people.
The statement, which was released, Friday, hinted that, Governor Udom Emmanuel, had assured the partners that his administration would see to it that they are supported to speedily complte the projects, which span five local government areas of the state.
Emmanuel stated that, modalities have been put in place to ensure that the projects were not abandoned at the expiration of his tenure.
The statement quoted him as saying, “the business is structured to survive no matter who is in the saddle tomorrow”, noting that, he had sought for and got the support of host communities for the successful completion of the projects.
The governor said, “I had series of meetings with communities and I told them the water was there all along and that no meaningful wealth came out it”.
“Today, we want to turn that water into wealth and I have sued for peace and support from them”.
He observed that, the success of businesses depends on reliable infrastructure, security and transparent legislation and was optimistic that the projects would take off as the major financers releases the funds.
The Chairman of 3W Alliance Limited and leader of the private developers, Alhaji Umaru Abdul Mutallab, on his part said, “we look forward to immediate commencement of the projects and we will do our very best to ensure speedy completion”.
