Bribery Allegation: PDP Urges Amaechi’s Probe

The People Demo
cratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has called for full investigation into the allegations of bribery attempt labelled against the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and two others by two Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, whose homes were raided recently by the men of Department of States Security (DSS).
The two judges, Justice John Iyang Okoro and Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, had in their separate letters to National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Chief Judge of the Federation, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, accused Amaechi, the Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu and the 2015 governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa-Ibom State, Mr. Umana Umana of approaching them in their various homes to get favourable judgements for APC in election petition cases in Rivers, Akw-Ibom, Abia, Ebonyi and Ekiti States.
State PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike who made the call at a press briefing in Port Harcourt at the weekend appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to direct proper investigation into the allegations against his party’s chieftains, if he wanted Nigerians to have confidence in his fight against corruption in the country for once.
“If President Buhari is sincere in his fight against corruption, he should not shield the corrupt office holders in his cabinet.
“Buhari should investigate the alleged bribery against his party’s chieftains, especially Amaechi who embezzled funds belonging to Rivers people. Amaechi should resign and face all the corruption and bribery allegations against him in the EFCC and ICPC”, Nwanosike said, stressing that the two judges can not at the same time concoct lies against the APC Chieftains, if the allegations were flase, insisting that the allegations against Amaechi in particular have vindicated the people of the state who had earlier accused him of bribery and corruption.
