Man Docked For Damaging Plantain Trees

Chinedum has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court, Rivers State presided over by B.M.F Jamabo (Esq) for allegedly damaging plantain trees.
The accused is facing a two count charge bordering on assault and other criminal offences before Chief Magistrate B.M.F Jamabo.
The Police Prosecuting Officer, Insp. C. Acheseonie told the court that the accused on the 12th October, 2016 at No. 40B Close, Federal Housing Estate, Amadi-Ama, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area within Port Harcourt Magisterial District did unlawfully assault one Adelowu Ogundale by cutting his left ear with matchet which caused harm to him.
The prosecuting officer further told the courts that the accused on the said date and time unlawfully damaged plantain trees, valued at N21,000 property of one Ibitayo Elizabeth , female.
According to the prosecution, the accused committed an offence punishable under Section 338(1) and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Rivers State 1999.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the two count charge brought against him before the court, adding that he was not responsible for the allegations as levelled against him.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Chief Magistrate, B.M.F. Jamabo after listening to the bail application, admitted the accused bail to N400,000 in like sum, with two passports and one surety and adjourned the matter to 23rd October, 2016 for hearing.
