Gunmen Kill Two Policemen In Enugu


There is anxiety and
tension in Enugu, following the killing of two policemen attached to the state Command by yet to be identified gunmen
However, the  Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, Emmanuel Ojukwu, has vowed to apprehend perpetrators of the barbaric act.
The state Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to newsmen in Enugu said the victims were, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Otunji Philip  and a Sergeant.
He said the police had commenced trail of the suspects, adding that they were shot dead at New Haven area of Enugu.
According to him, yet to be identified gun men shot directly on the policemen, which resulted to the instant death of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Otunji Philip and later the death of one sergeant, Manne Wilson.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, while commisserating  with the families of the deceased officers has equally expressed displeasure over the incident.
“Attacking police means attacking peace; the machinery is already in place to unmask those behind the dastardly act.
“The state command will not relent in the bid to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry.”
The Tide also learnt that one of the policemen luckily escaped from the scene of the attack.
