Anambra Signs MoU For N1.5bn Housing Project

The Governor of
Anambra State, Willy Obiano, has in partnership with a private firm, Lake Petroleum Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to construct a N1.5 billion housing estate in the state.
In a statement made available to The Tide, the governor disclosed shortly after signing the MoU with the firm in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, that the estate was to be sited at the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Onitsha.
According to the statement, the governor observed that the estate would be the eight housing project the current administration has undertaken.
He added that the estate, which would be constructed in line with international standard, was designed to provide affordable and durable housing for people in the area.
The governor also said the project, underway was expected to provide employment opportunities for youths in the area.
He enjoined the contractors to mobilise to site to begin work within three months and warned that failure to comply would put them at risk of losing the contract.
Earlier at the signing of the document, the Managing Director, Anambra State Investments Promotion and Protection Agency, Joe-Billy Ekwunife, said in the course of the project, some land, lost to erosion would be reclaimed and fortified by the construction company.
He assured that on completion, the project is expected to boost the internally generated revenue of the state.
