Analyst Urges Road Maintenance Agency To Strive Harder
In a bid to compliment the
efforts of the Rivers State Government in the area of road construction, the state’s Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency has been charged to be up and doing.
A public analyst, Comrade Emperor Nraoma gave the charge while fielding questions from journalists on Friday in Port Harcourt.
He said the only way to ensure that the roads are properly maintained to specification by the government is for the Agency to rise up and work towards the vision of the present administration on road maintenance in the state.
Nnaoma, maintained that the governor was right in his choice of Chief Okey Okah as the agency’s chairman following his track records.
He explained that, if the Okah-led agency, could-maintain their present pace of road rehabilitation, the agency would achieve its target of zero pot hole before 2017.
Nnaoma, noted that the state under the present leadership of Chief Nyesom Wike would be placed on the right-footing, following his excellence determination to uplift the state infrastructural development within the state.
On his assessment of the Agency, he said it has scored more than 70 per cent judging from the rehabilitation work done on Ikwerre and Aba-Port Harcourt Express way axis.
Another area that scored the Agency high, was in the area of the control of flood at St John and First Bank axis on Aba expressway Port Harcourt respectively.
Earlier, he has called on the state government to workout modalities to check the activities of those who are in the habit of pouring filthy water on the road, saying it causes damage to the road through the acidic content of such water.
