After dropping all available points at stake against Abia Warriors in Umuahia in a Week 17 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the weekend, Rivers State side, Rivers United will host Akwa United in a must win encounter.
It is a must win for United because if they are to realize the ambition of winning the league, or at least securing a continental ticket at the end of the season, they cannot afford to drop any more points at home.
However, the Coach Stanley Eguma tutored side has made their Yakubu Gowon Stadium home ground a fortress in recent time and the team does not look as if they would pander to the visitors’ antics today.
With the return to fitness of midfielder, Frederick Obomate and other injured first team players, Eguma will have full range of first teamers to choose from.
Expectedly, the tie promises to be an explosive one as it is considered a Niger Delta derby and the fact that Akwa United will be led by a son of the soil and former Sharks and Dolphins Coach, Dabo-Ere Dokubo, will add passion to the mood of the game.
Undoubtedly, football fans in Port Harcourt would be in for football fireworks as the two clubs go for broke and the points at stake.
