Ebonyi Police Rescues Kidnap Victim

mand has confirmed the rescue of a man (name withheld) who was abducted by a gang of kidnappers in police uniform recently.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP George Okafor, made the confirmation in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki.
“Unknown to the abductors, my officers had cordoned off the entire area and opened fire on the hoodlums, killing one of them.
“The victim was, therefore, rescued unhurt and one of the policemen who engaged the kidnappers in the gun battle sustained gunshot wounds,” Okafor said.
He said the affected officer was now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
He said the victim was abducted at Umuoghara Quarry site in Ezza North local government area of the state.
According to the police spokesman, the gunmen demanded a ransom of N30 million which they later reduced to an undisclosed amount.
“They kept the victim in a hideout at Umuoghara and demanded that the ransom be dropped in a certain location within the area.
